Saturday’s senior prom at the Elks Lodge. Here is the link for the photo gallery that I shot alongside Sun Sentinel photographer Sarah Dussault. Today was a good day.

Imagine 15 years of nails this long. Shirley who I met today at a Senior Prom, where the most seniors of the groups were somewhere in their 80’s and 90’s, was one of the most interesting characters. I want to do a story on her nails, suffice to say I was enthralled as to every detail of their maintenance. Maybe it is because I’m a short nails kind of woman and any attempts at decently long nails fails miserably.

My first day at the Sun-Sentinel was interesting . . . still trying to form ideas about Florida and what I want to do for the next ten weeks. We covered a library for a story about tax issues and dora the explorer visitor at the children’s hospital.

I love my family, portraits as I get ready to leave Arizona for Florida

I tend to scare children with my camera, or at least I like to think it is the camera . . .

Mission of Mercy in Mesa, day two . . .

People begin to line up at 5am to secure one of five spots to see a doctor as a walk-in appointment. Here are some other photos:

Mission of Mercy sees over 40,000 patients. I wish I had more photos edited, but my computer won’t comply . . .

I am participating in a grant with the Virginia G. Piper Trust to cover a local non profit, here are a few of the first images. These were by far my favorites from today.

So I busted out an old Fuji a few days ago and threw in a roll of Ilford 50, it has been a while, I shot at 400 ISO and these scans are low quality, but it was just fun to shoot film again, it’s honestly been a couple of years . . .
